Homeless Services

Volunteers of America South Central Louisiana began in 1921 as a family shelter.  Today, our housing and homeless programs have grown to meet the changing needs of Louisiana and the unique challenges that low-income households face finding safe, decent, and affordable housing.  People served range from chronically homeless adults living on the streets, to individuals and households who are experiencing a housing crisis for the first time, to people in jeopardy of losing their homes.  Volunteers of America provides a range of services designed to meet people where they are and encourages them to play an active role in their own recovery.  For many, we are the first link in a continuum of care that enables them to move towards stability and self-sufficiency.
